Network Health Check

Inside Products can help you solve problems or do a periodic health check for your mainframe z/OS TCP/IP network. We work together with the IBM Network Traffic Analysis service to create a comprehensive end-to-end solution for your TCP networks.

You may purchase our Network Health Check through Inside Products or via the IBM Network Analysis group. Please contact the IBM Network Traffic Analysis group at 1-800-876-8801 within the U.S. or (919) 461-5131 outside the U.S. You may also purchase the IBM NTA services through Inside Products.

The IBM NTA group specializes in problem analysis of the TCP and SNA stacks in your local-area and wide-area network components, including Linux, AIX, UNIX, Windows, Servers and many other items. The Inside Products Network Health Check concentrates on z/OS.

Our Network Health Check provides:

  • A 10 point tune up for your z/OS based TCP/IP stack, applications, and network
    1. Analyze response time for applications (host and network time)
    2. Analyze response time for individual connections (host and network time)
    3. Identify congestion or network traffic errors on subnets
    4. Identify paging, queues, high CPU usage for TCP sockets or TCP address space
    5. Analyze TCP profile
    6. Identify paging, queues, high CPU usage for individual FTPs
    7. Identify routes and applications with packet fragmentation
    8. Identify excessive idle or hanging connections
    9. Identify connections in frequent error status
    10. Identify application configuration problems (keepalive required, etc)

  • Traffic Benchmark
    1. Top applications (connections, connect time, bytes transmitted, time of peak usage)
    2. Top users (connections, connect time, bytes transmitted, time of peak usage)
    3. Enterprise Extender usage (connections, connect time, bytes transmitted, time of peak usage)
    4. Interface usage (connections, connect time, bytes transmitted, time of peak usage, throughput)
    5. IP throughput
